Lets be Practical

Ok, year end is coming, and i am a graduating student.
let me guess, apart from O's, most of you will be thinking of prom?
yes, today i want to blog just about it.


Ya, so today morning,
we were at the hall, and spend a few minutes deciding on prom night.
the school did some survery and it turns out that people are willing to spend like,
$80 bucks+/- for the prom night in a hotel.
The teacher finds that abit too expensive and decided to settle for countryclub,
which is almost just as good, and we only need to pay $45
i know whatever i am about to say might make me looks/sounds stingy,
but i am just merely stating my opinion so ya, dont take it to hear too much. :)


So now that you got the brief idea,
we were given a paper to choose if we will want the countryclub prom,
or none.
so, i was kind of hesitant.
i mean like afterall $45 is not a small amount you know,, ( esp for a student..:/)
Also, when you go to prom night, you will want to dress up and it will add on to the expenses.
so if it is $45, you buy a dress, lets say $20?
then you buy shoes, $20?
that alone will take up to like $65
and i bet some people will be willing to spend even more money just for the sake of buying a more expensive looking dress which actually you friend will just go WOW! and deep in their heart, they will just say: Waste money, kinda of dress.
yeap.


And at that point when i was thinking, our principal said about how fortunate we are etc,
to be able to celebrate in a countryclub/ hotel
and in the past they might just only celebrate in the school and such.
so i was thinking, why not celebrate in school?
but based on the expressions the others have when they hear that,
i can totally guessed that the school thing will never work.
Ah well~


According to some of my friends they think that prom night is a special night,
and they dont want their so called last day to be in the school and such.
and they feel that the atmosphere is just not right
and they will not have the motivation to dress up etc etc.
but seriously, if you say it more plainly,
issnt hotels,countryclubs and school halls just the same?
It is still a empty space, just that is is filled with tables, which our school can do too,
it has frills on the wall, which we can add too,
but i guess the only difference is that it has carpet floor, ( maybe they might not even have carpet floors)
and maybe just the fact that you spend like loads of your parents hard earn money on the ticket makes you have more "face"
i know it sounds bad, but in my eyes, it is just like throwing your parent's OT and hard work down the drain.
If you say you are using your own savings, i would like to point out that, your savings comes from your parents, like it or not.
and your savings is what you try to resist your favourite expensive foods for.
and you are just taking it out and spending it in just one night?
seriously, it is almost as scary as declaring bankrupt over night!


haha, now you must be thinking that i ticked "No" on the box right,
but no, i didn't
ridiculous issnt it?
i talked sooo much about the whole i-hate-people-who-spend-money-on-prom
but yet, i am doing that too.(sorry! TT^TT!!)
hah. I guess you can say i gave in to peer pressure.
if there are too much "No"s, the prom nights for the future batches will be gone too,
and i already felt very bad for taking away their sec2 camp and don't want to take away their prom too.
also, i really want to go for prom night and take many amazing photos with my friends so i cant miss it!!
so yeap,
i guess if i really need to spend so much moeny, i won't really dress myself up much. :/
Tsk.
But seriously i still don't understand why the girls need to be at the countryclub or hotel then they feel the need to dress themselves up,
why not just go in casual for all? :DDD


ya, end of my whining, i am gonna start saving up :(((

just to show off a little,
Shiyang, Elsa, Cher and me formed a team and went to the national accounting quiz,
guess what? we got into top 30 teams out of like 200+/- teams!

i finished my MYE and i totally died.
ok, like literally
but~ MY RESULTS JUST SUCKKKKKKKK.
ok, i shall not be too emo here in case i offend those who did worst than me
( but trust me, I UNDERSTAND.)
its just soooooooooooo devastating!
and did you expect me to say that?
haha! no way man!
i guess it is just a warning to me,
like seriously, i didn really study much for my MYE :S
so yeah, i deserve it. :(


and to be truthful, i don't think i did really well for my previous chinese Olvl too :(
i think i might have to re-take :(((((
when i was taking chinese o lvl , even when the whole paper ended,
i just canit believe i took a major exam like hours ago!
its like, zoom! GONE.
i really i hope i did well :(
aiya! but its over liao! i will just have to wait for my results :/
anws, this holiday i am ashamed to confess, but i haven really start on my holiday homework and tonnes of my firends are starting their revision alrdy!!
OHMYGAWD.
i need to work real hard man!
ok yeah, so if anyone really does read this,

when you see me online on like fb or whatever
just ask me
" WHY ARE YOU HERE? HAVE YOU DONE YOUR REVISION?"
yeah ,just to wake me up from all these bad habits >:((((


i just cant help but think of life after Olvls!
to think that i will have a real break from studies!!!
in the past i will still have to worry about holiday homework and stuff! :D
so after o lvls i will most likely have like 4 months+/- to myself! YAY!
but of course i won't want to be depressed by not trying my best for o lvls and spend most of my days mourning for my my failure and stuff,
SO I AM GONNA TRY REAL HARD AND MAKE SURE I DONT HAVE TO SPEND MY HOLIDAY WORRYING ABOUT MY RESULTS!!!!

Ok if i didn confess this before, i always feel inspired whenever i read daphne's blog.

yeah, so i am sort of keeping track with it since it is quite interesting to watch them speak.

well, i should say that actually all of them are very out spoken, and it is definitely some points that i will like to acquire when i grow up.
i mean like its cool, not alot of people can express what they think so well,
i,myself, even have some trouble typing this post and lets not talk about speaking. hahaha!


Yeah speaking of it, i just feel that we should not let our emotion overcome our senses.
the current batch may hate the government,
but you have to admit they did a not-bad job of it right?
i was watching about how some parties talk about the foreigner influx, the rising prices etc etc,
but honestly, i feel that it just reflects how self-centred we are,
the moment the particular scheme don't benefit us, we just you know kind of blame the government for it etc etc.
but if those foreginers you really hate don't come to singapore, are you willing to live without a maid?
who will fill up the empty spaces for cleaners? or jobs we don't want to take?
who will build houses for us?
and yet we still complain about the high prices of houses, imagine all the foreginers gone har, singaporeans build houses, we all pay more man!
i wonder if there will be much singaporeans willing to work under the hot sun in the first place.
hahahah!
yeah, so i think we should really consider in general, and not anyhow vote just because you not happy etc etc. and issn't it strange cause adults are supposed to be the wise ones? O-O.
Actually, compared to many countries, singapore is doing well, and yeah, i am quite happy with it.
though maybe people just have to be more flexible sometimes you know? xP
yeah, so thats about ti lah, i don't really want to go too deep into it :D


anws, now is exam period, most schools are having exams and its tense atmosphere LOL.
yeah i had my chemistry paper today and its kind of hopeless, but i tried already~
yeah and my sister just mentioned this to me and i realised its quite true so i decided to post it.
she say that she realised that most exams are just testing your memory.
because seirously, after the exams, and time passed for like 1 year, you won't really remember what you learnt.
so yeah actually we are just spending most of our time re-reading and learning stuff.
hmmm.
i guess we are supposed to learn, understand and apply but just that not much people are really doing that.
we are just studying for the sake of studying. hahaha!
maybe for the certificate? :D


and yes, time flies,
seriously in jan i was like, omg, its just jan, and its still so far from Os and stuff, but now the pressure is coming and like 20 km/h. LOL
nah, thats a joke, i wasn't really measuring it.
so yeah, its may now, and in a few weeks time, i will be taking my Os! omg.
and i am totally not prepared for it yet :(
uh huh. and i guess the thing really feels different if you are experiencing it youself.
it seemes like ytd i was lamenting how silly that my seniors are making a big deal over Os coming close.
hahahah!
well, time passed and people changed. WEEHEE!
this year is so not gonna be sweet.

some of my friends are liek starting their freaking o lvl revision like now? D:
i just cant help but think that once i start now, i am gonna be stressed up 24/7. -_-"


and seriously, teachers a contradicting themselves.
they say
"start your revision nowwwwwwwwww."
and they just out of dunno what ( maybe kindness?) add:
"Don't feel stressed ok? :)"
and they just continue:
" I am testing everything for your midyear."
they should just settle themselves on stressing us up.

seriously, idk, i feel that everyone is sooo, soo.. normal?
if someone is abnormal, they are immediately thrown into the "weird" group or something.
and teachers went all the way to show us how some people who used to skip school etc and became a successful businessman etc etc,
then how about those who seriously studied and like aced everything etc etc?
why no documentaries about them?
well, maybe their oh-so-perfect-life wasnt as inspiring and fun?


being in school somehow limits our abilities.
we have this standard cycle of
sleeping, studying, doing hmk, cca, computer.
wee~
how very entertaining~
and if we start to "waste our time" on some other stuff, ppl will be like D:<
"dont waste your time on those stuff, now studies more important!"
what is considered wasting your time? :(


and what the scary thing is right, we are already in this, the moment we are born,
we have to study and earn those certificates and for our whole life,
we will just be constantly studying and earning those certificates.
so when can we stop studying?
i know that knowledge is good,
but i find experiences better.
there is always stuff that you will have to learn out of your textbook.
For those who really earned their certificates, they end up lost. No?
for all their lives, they are just studying, they dont even have a freaking dream!
or perhaps those dream are trashed as they study,
closing their doors of opportunities thanks to the certificates


and seriously when in life will you use those formulas?
will you be like

i know it trains our critical thinking skill but why force ppl to train it when some people are just different?
everyone is different, we think differently, and we do stuff differently,
But do we even think so much before we do stuff?
people in the past dont even learn that much but somehow they just know more than what we learn from textbooks.
Do you think they learnt how the water boils and the particles move or something?
i doubt so.
Why do we even want to know how the particles move when we dont really see them? o-o
we just know the water boils and know that is enough for us issnt it? o-o
so i guess there are stuff that we just learn out of textbooks :/


and now the standard is getting high,
trust me man, by the time i become an adult,
i bet even the hawker auntie have a university cert man!
so that means i will need a PhD or something to earn more money and
by the time i obtain that i will be around 30 years old?
wow.
and we will have to spare time for family planning and stuff?
no wonder we have lesser and lesser babies,
everyone is too busy getting those certificates
because afterall, time is running out~
so what really is wasting your time?


sian, despite the fact that i am saying so much,
i am just another normal person who go through this cycle.
afterall, who is daring enough to give up these certificates and try out their luck in this world where certificate is everything?

hello, here to blog again, and yeah
if you guys don't know or remember me mentioning, which i did be4,
but i got a brother
i mean a godbrother lah
yeah
his mum is my aunt and my mum is his aunt
but my dad is his god dad
which makes me his godsister
yeah,
and then, he is the same age as me, but just because i was born earlier,
in like june and he is born in like december, or november,
so i am like older yeah.


and his family came to my house ytd
and its like damn awkward.
XDDDD
we only met once a year,
which is in like new year and might not even meet if i didn stay long at my mother side there.
yeah.
so ytd is the second time we met in the whole year LOL!
pathetic i know right?
ok, then his family came coz his father is like helping us to repair our door
since he is like a renovating company boss or something lah
then all the others do is like sit on the sofa
LOL
my family is watching a show,
so we didn bother them.
yeah suuper awkward


and i didn even talk to him since like primary 3/4
when we met once and i was supposed to hang out with his family or something
and only that day i know i got a god brother lah!
my mum is like
" eh, yun, you got a godbrother, yeah, forgot to tell you :)"
and i was like O_O....ok...
and ytd his whole family,
which includes, his younger sister, his mum, his dad and him
to my house
and i dunno how to entertain them LOL
so he just sit at the end of the sofa for like
erm, from 2 plus to 5pm
LOL
3 solid hours. yes.


and at erm around 4 plus?
i went to take my DS out and play abit lah,
to get my items for pokemon xD
then i turn around and ask his sister, since his sister is nearer,
that if she wants to play DS
and she shake her head, so i just "oh, you dont want to play arh? then i play~ :D"
then i carried on with my pokemon and i totally forgot to double check what is my godbrother's reaction :OOOO
ah well, so it is damn freaking awkward.


yes, more awkward when my dad ask me to pass him the snack i am eating and my dad is signaling by,
pointing at him and smiling and raising his eyebrows
and i was like "What? :/"
then i guess my bro ( just for short) also notice him gesturing -,-"
then i finally got the hint and,
"oh, you want? LOL"
then his sister took and they share.
yeah.

and not to mention, he got invited by my mum to go into the study room
and look for stuff he might want to read
and they could totally see my freaking table in a bloody mess.
ok, let me describe,
its piles of files, piles of papers, bags dumped there, clothes too, which is my guzheng clothes, and some plastic bags, and some books
and its all over the whole table.
yes, hard to imagine but just try to picture it.

and i didn even go into the room to defend myself xDDDD
or even introduce books for him/her
omg i fail.

ok, i am not sure why i am posting this
and i was certain that i am not gonna post this in my life
but like i said,
i am not sure why.


I know this might disappoint some ppl,
or maybe even alot of ppl,
but i have to say that i dislike being a leader.
not gonna specify but those who knows me should get it.
i dont know why i just finds it ridiculous.
even the reason why i am elected is ridiculous.
apparently ppl just finds my name nice etc etc, and votes without knowing who i am
and they supported to ensure that the other candidate is not the leader.
and yes, it might be good,cool whatever lah
but i dont like it.


firstly , i feel useless..?
like i wasn't able to do much,
all i do is take attendence...? O_O
i dont scream or scold
and dont act like a leader at all
And i wasn't even chosen to take part in the cca leader camp or something
it feels like just a leader in the name.


Yeah, and secondly, not to blame, but its the members, and maybe even the teachers.
when it comes to decision making,
idk, i feel like just a spokes person.
like for example, in class,
when we are like suddenly being asked to stay back and the time clashes with our cca,
you guys would expect me to say it,
decide it on the spot and argue with the teachers.
worst part when i make a decision,
you guys make me regret it immediately,
i guess the main point in asking me to decide is so that when the teacher finds someone to blame,
the first person would be me..?


and i was very very stressed,
the teachers would often give me comments like,
" you should stand up and scold them more, scream at them or something."
" Be more active?"
"Please behave more like a leader"
seriously, i dont think scolding and scream would help us anywhere,
personally,
i dislike being scolding and scolding ppl unless needed.
and what more we are all schoolmates, why should i scold ppl just to show that i have authority?
wont the person being scolded feel annoyed?
and being active is just not my trait,
i am not a sporty,active person by heart.
and it just adds another question mark to the leader qualities.



So here i am,
i am extremely sorry that i am earning points despite the fact that i am useless.
i am sorry that i am useless.
i am sorry that i am not a good leader.
i am sorry that at anypoint, if i did offended you.
i am sorry for some of my empty promises.
i am sorry that i wasn't able to help the others much,
One vice is charge of training,
the other in charge of stock,
and one treasurer in charge of money.
i am extremely sorry that i was not of help to you guys
i am sorry towards all members and teachers .
